Yes, this is me BARE FACED. Why in the world am I doing this? Because I feel very strongly about embracing Agelessness head on, and I want to share honestly the things I find that work for me. I don’t take my appearance lightly - I never have. I’ve been blessed with good genes, and as an Ageless Badass, I still care about looking my best so I’m always looking for that magic makeup that gives me a little boost.
That said, dear readers, through the years, I have found precious little for aging skin and ALL it’s challenges (and when I have, it’s usually demonstrated on a much younger model) . . . until just a few weeks ago. I wanted to show you my up-close and personal before and after - unretouched…..taken in the same spot & same lighting (natural sunlight through the window of my bathroom) pictures.
No attempts to make anything better - Just as Me as it gets.
As I’ve aged, I find that less is more - I used to love wearing a shit-ton of makeup - but that looks pretty harsh and ridiculous on me these days. However, I definitely want something to add some brightness to my face.
Here are the products and the steps I used to get the effect in these photos:
1 - NIOD Hydration Vaccine. Oh My God, this stuff is amazing!! It lasts all day and all night. It’s heavy but not greasy. I’d like to find the order-link for “Lifetime Supply”.
2 - Heliocare 360 - Fluid Cream. Again, this is a wonderful moisturizer and sunscreen combination that has a light tint to it. This could be sufficient on its own, but then I'd miss the luxury of the NIOD Vaccine Hydration. This is a case of "if one is good, two are better".
4 - Daniel Sandler Watercolor Liquid blush Glow (bronzer) and Flush (blusher) - Very tiny amounts blended in. Plus, it too lasts ALL DAY (and if you fall asleep without washing your face you won’t find it on your pillow, but you WILL find it on your makeup wipes when you clean your face in the morning - I know, unheard of, right?).
5 - Topped with BoomStick Glimmer as a cheekbone highlighter - I’m down to my last nubs and YES, I will be reordering this.
6 - On my eyelids, I use a silver power from The Body Shop at lash line to just up to the crease - sorry, I don’t have the color name, and I can’t find it anywhere now (it’s a few years old) but I love how subtle it is - and it accents my silver hair so well.
7 - I Finished the look with Loreal Telescopic Mascara. I love it, it doesn’t flake off, and I can put two coats on without it looking gloopy.
Let me introduce you to the woman that inspired me to do this routine: Katie is a make-up artist, stylist and founder of beautyandtheboutique.com . The first 4 steps are products from her website in the UK (and I'm seriously Jonesing for the Wow Brow fix too). These products are are also available on Amazon, and cost just a few dollars more, but you get them faster with Prime - I have no affiliation with either, the choice is yours.
The Broomstick Glimmer is available here.
I have no affiliation with any of these companies. This is just an honest review paying it forward to those who are looking for something new and better to enhance their Ageless Badassness!! Something that works, tried and true on at least one soon-to-be-67 year old.
